Research group of Cancer Biomarkers (GReBiC)

The strategic lines of our research group are the following:

  1. Digestive tumors: search for biomarkers of recurrence and / or metastasis in colon cancer; search for biomarkers of response to immunotherapy in gastric cancer; and development of novel experimental therapies in hepatocellular carcinoma based on gene editing.
  2. Breast cancer: search for biomarkers of response to neoadjuvant anti-HER2 therapy in patients with HER2-positive tumors; search for biomarkers of response to neoadjuvant therapy in patients with luminal tumors by analyzing cell-free DNA and tumor-educated platelets; and development of novel experimental therapies in triple negative breast cancer based on gene editing.
  3. Pleural effusion: search for diagnostic biomarkers in pleural fluid in patients with malignant pleural effusion secondary to lung cancer; search for biomarkers of response to immunotherapy in pleural fluid in patients with malignant pleural effusion secondary to lung cancer and search for therapeutic alternatives for patients with complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion or empyema.
