Xavier Matias-Guiu, new full member of the IEC

The researcher and professor of the UdL joins the Biological Sciences section

The Professor of Pathological Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida (UdL) Xavier Matias-Guiu has been elected as a new full member of the Section of Biological Sciences of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC). The also IRBLleida researcher joins with Dolors Vaqué Vidal, of the Institute of Marine Sciences of Barcelona.

The IEC emphasizes that the scientific task of Matias-Guiu focuses on the study of tumors of female genital treatment, especially in the molecular mechanisms of endometrial cancer, which "has made him worthy of great prestige within the international scientific community".

This UdL professor has received numerous awards, such as the Josep Trueta of the Medical Sciences Academy of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands (2009), the City of Lleida International Award (2014), the Narcís Monturiol Medal of the Generalitat (2015) and the Prize to the research trajectory in the Hospitals of the Catalan Health Institute (2017).
