A IRBLleida and CIBERES researcher is the winner of the 2016 Young Investigator Award from the American Thoracic Society

The initiative of the American Thoracic Society recognizes young researchers with outstanding scientific career emerging in the field of the study of respiratory diseases.

Lleida, November 21st, 2016 Manuel Sánchez de la Torre, fromt the Translational Research in Respiratory MedicineGroup at the Institute of Biomedical Research in Lleida (IRBLleida) and the Center for Biomedical Research Network Respiratory Disease (CIBERES), led by Ferran Barbé, has been awarded by the American Thoracic Society ATS as Young Researcher 2016. This award recognizes emerging researchers with more projection research in the field of respiratory diseases. The American Thoracic Society is the world's leading medical association with over 15,000 members dedicated to promoting scientific and clinical knowledge of respiratory diseases. Sánchez de la Torre has been recognized for its scientific pioneers in the development and application of precision medicine sleep apnea. This work has enabled the development of a diagnostic technology based on the analysis of epigenetic markers for predicting clinical response of patients with sleep apnea treatment with continuous positive pressure in the airway, standard treatment for disease. The award has been given recently to the 21st Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology, Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand.
