700 people take part in IRBLleida’s Research Night 2026
On Friday 2 October, 16 workshops and a talk by the Joan Oró Foundation took place simultaneously.
Between Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October, five public talks were organised on topics such as cancer, stroke, memory and genetics, attended by over 300 people. Over the course of these two days, four guided tours of the IRBLleida were also held, with nearly forty people taking part. These tours gave them the opportunity to explore both the facilities and the main lines of research being carried out at the centre.
The sixteen workshops scheduled for Research Night were held simultaneously on Friday, 2 October, along with a talk by the Joan Oró Foundation. The workshops have allowed members of the public to explore various areas of biomedical research, such as cardiovascular health, ageing, the functioning of the human body, anatomy and disease prevention, among others. Through participatory activities and hands-on experiences, attendees were able to discover first-hand how research contributes to improving people's health and quality of life.
In addition, the CREBA centre, located in Torrelameu, offered a quiz with challenges related to animal anatomy and veterinary medicine, and a level-based game to discover what happens in an operating theatre. The IRBLleida 2026 Research Night also featured a planetarium and a scientific photography session.
This edition of Research Night at IRBLleida has been made possible thanks to the support of the "la Caixa" Foundation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), part of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The University of Lleida (UdL), through the GREiA research group and the Unit for Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC+I), is coordinating the free activities taking place across various campuses: Cappont, Health Sciences, the Rector's Office, and the Agri-Food, Forestry and Veterinary campus. Lleida City Council has also collaborated in organising the event.
