CREBA is launching a new solar power system that will enable it to operate in self-consumption mode
The project has been funded by the Lleida Provincial Council
CREBA, the Centre for Applied Biomedical Experimental Research, part of the Lleida Institute of Biomedical Research (IRBLleida), has launched a new photovoltaic installation in the centre's car park. This initiative, funded by the Lleida Provincial Council, marks the completion of the solar-powered self-consumption project, which is expected to generate annual savings of around €28,000.
CREBA is a state-of-the-art facility with a high level of medical equipment for training and research, which entails a high demand for electricity. In the years prior to the photovoltaic installation, consumption exceeded 130,000 kWh per year. In 2023, a grant from the Lleida Provincial Council enabled the installation of the first photovoltaic system, with surplus compensation, which was located on the building's roof and resulted in a 57% reduction in consumption. With the commissioning of the car park installation completed this week, self-consumption is expected to be achieved during daytime hours.
The project cost €63,830.92 and forms part of the ongoing collaboration between the Lleida Provincial Council and IRBLleida, demonstrating its support for the advancement of science and technology.
It is expected to generate annual savings of around €28,000
