Around 750 secondary school pupils are taking part in a science workshop at IRBLleida during the 2025–2026 academic year
A total of 14 workshops have been held as part of the programme funded by FECYT and the 'la Caixa' Foundation
Around 750 secondary school pupils from schools in the Lleida region took part in a science workshop at IRBLleida during the 2025-2026 academic year. To bring biomedical research closer to young people, IRBLleida organises the IRBLleida-Fundación 'la Caixa' science education programme, which is also co-funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). This initiative has become well-established in recent years.
In total, IRBLleida has offered 14 workshops in which students have gained an initial insight into what research for the benefit of health entails. 'The Antibody Revolution' is the title of the workshop, which is divided into two parts. An explanatory section to highlight the importance of research centres, and a second section illustrating various microorganisms that have caused disease outbreaks. A participatory activity on the fight against pathogens and the different phases of the immune system, a thought-provoking game on the importance of vaccines, and a practical experiment.
The schools that have visited IRBLleida are: Institut Guindàvols de Lleida, Col·legi Lestonnac de Lleida, Institut Josep Lladonosa de Lleida, Institut de Seròs, Institut Salt del Duran de Mollerussa, Col·legi Sagrada Família de Lleida, Institut Sant Jaume les Heures de Lleida, Escola Mirasan, l'Institut de Tremp, Col·legi Mare de Déu de Montserrat de les Borges Blanques, Institut Lo Pla d'Urgell de Mollerussa, Institut d'Alpicat, Institut Escola de Magraners, Zer Serra Llarga de la Noguera and Institut Josep Vallverdú de les Borges Blanques.
This activity is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
