The first HackSalut de Ponent brings together 165 people to innovate in health

Three different tracks have been organised on statistics, innovation and solidarity

The Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy (FIF) at the University of Lleida has today hosted 165 people for the first HackSalut de Ponent. HackSalut is an intensive health innovation day that applies the hackathon format as an active and collaborative learning methodology. In teams, participants work on real-world challenges and present a proposal or prototype with an impact on health and clinical practice.

In this case, the organising staff of the Cures in Health research group (GRECS) at IRBLleida have organised 3 different participation modes.

  • HackSalut Florence Nightingale Challenge: a statistical challenge that tests your data skills, aimed at first-year FIF students (in groups of 4-5 students) who have applied their knowledge of scientific methodology and biostatistics to solve a real-world health data analysis challenge.
  • HackSalut Hedera solutions: in this category, a current and real challenge from the health and social care system was set, and in groups of 4-5 people they developed a proposal for an innovative and creative solution, including a gender perspective, social and clinical impact, and sustainability.
  • Solidarity HackSalut: in this mode, a solidarity challenge was held to build 3D-printed Trédesis (arm prostheses) prototypes in collaboration with the Ayudame3D Foundation. These prostheses reduce inequalities, improve quality of life and provide educational and employment opportunities for people around the world, and for the challenge's participants, they foster the social value of technology.
