IRBLleida renews small equipment for research staff thanks to the support of the Diputació de Lleida

Materials necessary for the institute's day-to-day running have been purchased

The Lleida Biomedical Research Institute (IRBLleida) has purchased 4 small pieces of equipment to facilitate the research tasks of the institute's staff. IRBLleida has improved its facilities thanks to a grant from the Lleida Provincial Council for the renewal of small equipment. Specifically, the Diputació de Lleida has provided a total grant of €80,000 for these purchases: €20,000 in 2022, €20,000 in 2023, €20,000 in 2024 and €20,000 in 2025.

  • During 2025, IRBLleida was able to make investments in small equipment, including:
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for an INFINITY 200 plate reader.
  • Thermocycler.
  • Spectrophotometer for the measurement of nucleic acids.
  • A backup -80°C freezer.

This grant marks the fourth consecutive year that the Diputació de Lleida has supported the IRBLleida in renewing its equipment. In previous years, the investments included the acquisition of:

  • A material drying oven for the cleaning service.
  • Accessories for the LUNA cell counter.
  • Tecan INFINITY MONO 200PRO fluorometer for measuring fluorescence parameters such as intensity and wavelength distribution.
  • Gentle Macs, a laboratory device used to dissociate tissues (such as muscle or organs) into individual cells or to produce a homogeneous tissue mixture.
  • Geldoc Imagin System, an advanced system for the detection and analysis of amino acids.
  • 3 thermocyclers that allow the amplification of nucleic acids using the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technique.
  • EPOCH2 plate reader for measuring plate absorbance for the analysis of various biochemical parameters.
  • Autoclave for sterilising laboratory instruments and materials using heat and pressure, which eliminates microorganisms and other infectious agents.
  • Refrigerated centrifuge for separating the components of a sample using centrifugal forces at a controlled temperature.

Through this ongoing collaboration with IRBLleida, the Diputació de Lleida demonstrates its support for the advancement of science and technology.
