Recognition for researcher Xavier Matias-Guiu
Has received the international Arnaldo Bruno prize in Rome
Dr Xavier Matias-Guiu, Head of the Department of Pathology at the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital, Professor at the University of Lleida (UdL) and researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Research (IRBLleida), has received the international Arnaldo Bruno prize in Rome, at a ceremony held on 13 November. With this international award, the Italian Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei recognises Dr Matias-Guiu's contributions to the understanding of the molecular basis of gynaecological cancers, and also his role in the incorporation of molecular tests into the management of patients with gynaecological cancer, through international guidelines.
The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is based at the Palazzo Corsini in Rome, a very distinctive Baroque building in the city, where the award was presented. The Academy was founded in 1603 by Federico Cesi and is considered the most prestigious in Italy and the oldest in Europe.
