IRBLleida is organising 16 workshops, 2 talks and 4 guided tours for Research Night 2025
They will take place from 15 to 19 September at the Lleida Biomedical Research Institute
On Friday, 19 September, a new edition of Research Night will take place at the Lleida Biomedical Research Institute (IRBLleida). For this edition, the Institute has prepared 16 workshops, 2 informative talks and 4 guided tours, which will take place throughout the week, although the vast majority will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. To attend any activity, everyone must register on the website nitdelarecerca.irblleida.org.
The aim of European Research Night is to raise awareness of the work of researchers and the benefits they bring to society in a fun way, allowing people to become scientists for a few hours. This public science outreach event, which will be held in a dozen Catalan cities in late September, will take place at IRBLleida from 16 to 19 September and at the University of Lleida (UdL) on Friday 19 September.
The activities will begin on Tuesday 16 September with a guided tour of the centre. The guided tours will be repeated until Thursday at different times. On 17 September, there will also be a talk entitled 'Healthy habits to fight cancer: diet and physical activity' by trainee researcher Mariona Pont.
Friday 19th will be the day when a large number of workshops will take place simultaneously. Workshops on the mission of the Biobank, science and art, how does the brain feel when it has a stroke, or the amazing journey of what we eat. In addition, the CREBA centre, located in Torrelameu, will offer a gymkhana with tests related to animal anatomy and health, a game with different levels to discover what happens in an operating theatre, and readings aloud of texts written by scientific staff.
This 2025 edition of Research Night at IRBLleida is made possible thanks to grants from the "la Caixa" Foundation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Lleida City Council is also collaborating in the organisation of the event.
European Research Night is held every year on the last Friday in September in more than 300 cities in 30 countries across Europe. In 2025, it will take place on 26 September, but IRBLleida has brought the celebration forward by a week so that it does not coincide with Lleida's local festival. Its aim is to bring research, innovation and its protagonists, scientists, closer to the public in a fun way. Thus, all types of audiences, from schools, families and children to young people and adults of all ages, will be able to learn about and participate in the science of their region through different activities such as workshops, talks, shows, etc.
This activity is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
