About 750 children from 1st ESO educational centers in the Lleida region have carried out a scientific workshop at IRBLleida during the 2024-2025 academic year. To promote biomedical research for young people, IRBLleida organizes the scientific education program IRBLleida-Fundación "la Caixa", co-funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
In total, IRBLleida has offered 14 workshops in which the student has made a first approximation to what research is for the benefit of health. 'The Revolution of Antiquities' is the title of the workshop that divides into two parts. An explanatory part to know the importance of research centers, and a second part with the ejemplification on different microorganisms that have caused outbreaks of diseases. A participatory dynamic on the fight against pathogens and the different phases of the immune system, a reflective game on the importance of vaccines and a part of experimentation.
This activity is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
