The President of Lleida Provincial Council visits the IRBLleida
Talarn stresses the importance of attracting talent with local lines of research during his visit
The president of the Diputació de Lleida, Joan Talarn, accompanied by the deputy for Health and Sports, Òscar Martínez, visited the IRBLleida facilities this Friday. Talarn and Martínez were received by the director of IRBLleida, Diego Arango, the manager, Eva López, and the deputy scientific director, Joan Sayòs. During their stay, they visited the common equipment room financed by the Provincial Council, saw a demonstration of the electron microscope, and met the research staff working on the research projects, activities financed by the Provincial Council.
Subsequently, they met with the management team to make a general assessment of the contributions of the provincial institution and signed the collaboration agreement 2025-2028, which was approved by the plenary session of the Provincial Council last March, for a total of €2,838,000.
This economic contribution will finance projects such as Talent 2025, which focuses on attracting and retaining talent with 4-year grants; grants for initiation in research; grants for research staff in training, to support the completion of the doctoral thesis, or the ILERVAS 2025 research project, which allows the recruitment of research staff for the development of research and/or exploitation of the results of the IRBLleida's Bus de la Salut project, among others.
In this sense, Joan Talarn stated that "a stable funding framework helps to transfer research to clinical uses in favour of people's health and pharmaceutical treatments. At the same time, it helps to attract talent with local lines of research that are then multiplied to achieve global research.
