First day dedicated to women organised by Esport Femení Lleida, the IRBLleida and Lleida Provincial Council.

To inform and raise awareness about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle that favours integral health and well-being from a gender perspective

The organisation Esport Femení Lleida, the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida) and the Lleida Provincial Council have organised the first day dedicated to women "Women's Health: connecting body and mind", to inform and raise awareness about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle that promotes the overall health and well-being of people from an intersectional gender perspective. The event will take place on Saturday 26 April, from 9.15 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., on the premises of the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital of Lleida (HUAV), in classroom 0.22 of the Teaching Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lleida (in front of the IRBLleida).

The activity revolves around three major thematic blocks on women: health, sport and menopause.

  • Health: how ageing, nutrition and sleep are affected from the point of view of the intersectional gender perspective.
  • Sport: empowerment of women in the world of sport. Compatibility of sport with different moments in life: pregnancy, postpartum...
  • Menopause: the different ways of experiencing the menopause in the fullest possible way and its various symptomatologies.

The session of talks will begin at 9.30 a.m. with the specialist in pre-menopause and menopause, Carla Romagosa. Next, the INEFC graduate, Marta Mongay, will talk about sport in different stages of a woman's life. IRBLleida researcher Mariona Pont will give details on healthy habits to combat cancer. The athlete and graduate in Physical Education, Nuria Codina, will give a session on hypopressive techniques and we will finish with two talks on female wellbeing in movement by Cristina Torrelles and on nutrition from the point of view of women's hormonal health by the dietician-nutritionist, Alba Barbero.

Throughout the morning, everyone will be able to enjoy a gastronomic proposal and a variety of products. All of them are the result of projects committed to sustainability and the gender perspective. In addition, there will also be a play area. And to finish the event there will be a SWING demonstration by 'Allswing'.

In order to contribute to research, the funds raised during the event will be allocated to different IRBLleida projects focused on advancing the gender perspective applied to health, from training professionals to research studies in this field. The event was presented by the sports journalist Eva Cortijo.
