Josep Maria Brugués

Specialised in crisis communication and spokesperson communication training.

I have a degree in Journalism from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a master's degree in Public Relations from the University of Washington in Seattle (USA).

I have more than 30 years dedicated to the world of business and corporate communication. I have been director of communication for companies such as Port Aventura, Roche Diagnostics, Universitat de Girona and Grupo BBDO. I have worked as a consultant in communication consultancies such as Burson-Marsteller and Llorente y Cuenca.

I am also an associate lecturer at the Universitat Ramon Llull, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Barcelona School of Management-UPF, where I teach corporate communication, crisis communication and public speaking.

  • Audience: all staff, this course is designed for a group of 6-8 students.
  • Institution of origin: all seconded staff.

  • Course objectives:
    • To get our messages and ideas across more clearly to all our internal and external audiences, whether in regular situations (presentations and talks) or in crisis situations.
    • To speak more confidently and confidently and capture the attention of the audience. To improve verbal and non-verbal communication.
    •  This training provides you with the necessary tools to successfully deal with any intervention in front of any type of audience.
  • Programme:
    • 1. Preparing a presentation and/or conference: Audience/audience. Space (layout; location; technical equipment, logistics).
    • 2. Audiovisual support materials: what visuals do we need; number of attendees.
    • 3. Content and structure of presentations/lectures: objectives; messages; examples; beginnings and endings of speeches. Memorisation resources and improvisation techniques.
    • 4. Physical presence and non-verbal communication: nerves, gestures, gaze and attire.
  • Methodology: this will take the form of a workshop using theory and practical exercises. These exercises, which will be recorded on video, will be used to practice and train the techniques taught.
