Target Audience:

To all IRBLleida Community including researchers, students, phisycians, resident phisycians and UdL students and community.

Objectives:

  • Introduce the fundamental basics of Flow Cytometry
  • Explain different applications in Flow Cytometry
  • Introduce the IRBLleida Flow Cytometry Facility and its services.

Methodology:

Online presentation with Q&A section and a practical session in the Cytomics Lab (Lab Aux. 4.1 4a planta, bio2).

Evaluation:

In order to obtain the course certification you need to attend to both online and practical session. Concept assimilation will be evaluated by Kahoot tests administered during the online presentation.

Date:

  • Online Presentation: 27th April 2021 from 10h to 13h.
  • Practical Session (Lab. Aux. 4.1 4a planta Bio2): To be determined depending on the number of registered attendants (duration: 2 hours).

Programme:

1- Flow cytometry basics
Introduction to flow cytometer parts: fluidics, optics and electronics. Data analyisis.
2- Working with fluorochromes and antibodies
Staining methodologies, Fluorochromes and Antibodies
3- Flow Cytometry experiment set up
How to properly set up a new experiment.
4- Applications of Flow Cytometry
Clinical applications, Immunophenotiping, Apoptosis, Cell cycle, Functional analysis (oxidative stress, calcium flux, cell proliferation, FRET, etc...), Bead arrays, Exosome analysis
5- Cell Sorting and applications
Sorting technologies. Important concepts in cell sorting. Applications.
6- Imaging Flow Cytometry and applications
Imaging Flow Cytometry Technology. Applications
7- New applications in FC: Mass Cytometry, Spectral Flow cytometry
Mass Cytometry Technology and applications in biomedicine.
8- IRBLleida Flow Cytometry Facility
9- Practical session in the Flow Cytometry Lab
· How to design a multicolour experiment: Cytometer Set Up and compensation
· Immunophenotyping experiment
· Cell cycle experiment
· Apoptosis experiment
