The Alicia Cuello de Merigó Foundation is a non-profit foundation. One of its aims is the support of the research activity in the field of cancer and cardiovascular diseases, in order to improve the quality of life and prevent diseases of people.
The Biomedical Research Institute is a pioneer center in the stimulation of biomedical research.

The IRBLleida is the result of an agreement signed in 2004 between the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS) and the University of Lleida (UdL), with the mission of promoting biomedical research through the creation of synergies between its different variants . Due to the importance of its work, IRBLleida has established in a short time as a center of great prestige both nationally and internationally.
