El Bus de la Salut, present at the 8th Conference of Research at the Catalan Institute of Health in Girona

Lleida, May 31, 2016 The strategic project of the Institute of Biomedical Research Foundation Dr. Lleida Pifarré (IRBLleida) The health bus will be on Friday 3 June at the 8th Research Conference of the Catalan Institute of Health, to be held at the Palacio de Congresos Girona. The bus health is a medical project that allows to know the state of health of the arteries (which itself is known as pathological atheromatous disease) and the prevalence of occult renal disease in a sample of 9,000 people across the province Lleida for three years, 2015 and 2017. the Council of Lleida Kidney Foundation Jaume Arnó, together with the Department of health and UDETMA the University Hospital Arnau de Vilanova, have launched a bus with health the aim of bringing the service to its citizens and peoples. Those attending the conference can visit the bus, which is equipped with medical equipment, general hospital use, and skilled health personnel. The bus runs throughout the province of Lleida to approach people with risk factors (hypertension, smoking, obesity) and moves to prevent more distant centers of reference. Cited random people who visit primary care, which are risk factors that are within the age group 45 to 70 years to make them a painless test circuit (transcranial ultrasound and blood, spirometry, AGE or advanced glycation products, the Biobank samples ...) and without any side effects, requiring about 60 minutes per individual. The project comprises five research groups from IRBLleida: Pathophysiology Metabolic research groups, the Basic and Clinical Immunology and Endocrinology, Translational Research in Respiratory Medicine, Nephrology Experimental and Clinical Neurosciences. ICS Research Conference Obesity and diabetes have become the most serious public health problems of the XXI century the world. Both diseases are among the leading causes of death and disability, and have a very high economic impact on health systems. To cope with these diseases, prevention and the development of new therapeutic strategies are crucial. In this sense, clinical, basic and epidemiological are the key to a better understanding of these diseases and developing new treatments. For this reason, we decided to dedicate the 8th Research Conference of the Catalan Institute of Health to address the latest research on obesity and diabetes. This year, the meeting will be held on June 3 at the Palace of Congresses of Girona. The organization in charge of the Biomedical Research Institute of Girona (IdIBGi).
