7 out of 10 baccalaureate students awarded scholarships at the IRBLleida go on to study in the health and scientific fields.

The Institute of Biomedical Research promotes scientific vocations with initiatives designed to raise awareness of the research carried out in Lleida

Seven out of every ten students who have received a grant from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) while they were in their first year of secondary school are pursuing studies in the field of health and science. A total of 15 young people are studying or have studied Medicine, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology, Nursing or Energy Engineering.

The IRBLleida's programme of grants for baccalaureate students is aimed at first-year baccalaureate students in Science and Technology, related to life and health sciences. The programme provides young people with the opportunity to come into contact with the world of biomedical research in order to awaken and encourage research vocations for the future. The call is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the "la Caixa" Foundation.

From 2013 to 2019, 21 grants were offered for a one-month stay at IRBLleida to become familiar with the scientific environment and the techniques commonly used in basic biomedical research. The grant holders also carry out directed experiments and are in contact with the scientific methodology and the operation of high-tech equipment used in the different technical units of the IRBLleida.

In 2020 and 2021, aid could not be offered due to the limited capacity of the centre due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022 the aid was resumed and continued in 2023.
