Dr. Raquel Yotti Álvarez, Secretary General for Research, second guest speaker in the IRBLleida's aDONA't cycle

To give visibility to and get to know leading women in research, science and health

The Secretary General for Research of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Raquel Yotti Álvarez, gave the second talk in the cycle date aDONA't, promoted by the Equality Commission of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) on 22 June. Within the framework of the International Day for a non-sexist education, which takes place on 21 June, and the International LGBTIQA+ Pride Day, which takes place on 28 June, this second session has taken place to make visible and publicise leading women in the field of research, science and health.

The IRBLleida Equality Commission, fulfilling its functions of raising awareness, informing and advising the IRBLleida staff on the importance of incorporating equality between women and men in the centre, has launched the cycle date account that will feature a series of talks by leading women.

Raquel Yotti Álvarez is a cardiologist with expertise in cardiac imaging and genetically-based heart disease and a clinical researcher in the National Health System. From August 2018 until her appointment as Secretary General for Research in August 2021, she was the Director General of the Carlos III Institute of Health (ISCIII).

Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid (1998). PhD in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (2006). She is the author of more than 70 scientific articles in first quartile journals in her area of specialisation. In the field of clinical management, she has been Head of the Clinical Cardiology Section at the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón 2016-2018.
