Module 1: Tools for Communicating with Visual Impact

  • Session 1: PowerPoint for Visual Communication (2 h)
    • Structure and best practices for a professional presentation.
    • Use of corporate templates and consistent design.
    • Integration of charts, images and videos.
    • Tips to improve visual flow and avoid information overload.
    • Efficient use of Presenter View and other useful tools.
  • Session 2: Canva for Presentations and Visual Materials (2 h)
    • Introduction to the platform and its main features.
    • Creating templates and presentations for research and scientific communication.
    • Using the visual identity of the institution or project.
    • Team collaboration and management of shared elements.
    • Tips for integrating Canva with PowerPoint and other tools.


Module 2: Data Storytelling Applied to the Business Context

  • Session 3: Information Preparation (2 h)
    • Principles of an Effective Presentation.
    • Visual impact and message clarity.
    • Common mistakes and how to avoid them.
    • Defining the purpose and audience: inform, persuade or inspire.
    • Ideal structure: introduction, development and conclusion.
    • Exercise: Analyse a poorly designed presentation and propose improvements.
    • Information Hierarchy and Storytelling.
    • How to organise ideas to make them understandable and memorable.
    • The power of storytelling: telling stories with data.
    • Strategic use of titles, bullet points and logical structures.
    • How to summarise data without losing the key message.
    • Exercise: Transform a dense text into a clear and effective slide.
  • Session 4: Visual Resources and Practical Tips (2 h)
    • Visual Design and Graphic Elements.
    • Basic design principles: colours, typography and white space.
    • Appropriate use of images, icons and charts.
    • How to avoid the "karaoke effect" (reading slides aloud).
    • Animations and transitions: when to use them and when to avoid them.
    • Exercise: Create an impactful slide using the principles learned.
    • Presentation Delivery and Success Tips.
    • Preparation: rehearsal, timing and time management.
    • Body language and tone of voice.
    • Support tools: presenter notes and Presenter View.
    • Managing questions and answers.
    • What to do in case of technical issues.
    • Exercise: Live mini-presentation (3-5 min) with group feedback.
