Twenty donors Lleida IRBLleida visit in the framework of the TV3 Marathon Foundation

The research program Visit Marathon invites people to experience firsthand the destination of their donations and their efforts through routes open to public research centers

Lleida, 20th June, 2016 Twenty donors at the TV3 Marathon visit tomorrow, Tuesday 21 June, the Institute for Biomedical Research Foundation Dr. Lleida Pifarré (IRBLleida) in the framework of the visit the search Marathon to bring research to the community and see first hand some of the projects promoted by the aid of the TV3 Marathon. The visit will begin at 10:00 pm with a presentation of the research program Visit Marathon and IRBLleida. Later, the participants toured the laboratories and the different areas of scientific institutions employing researchers with projects funded by the TV3 Marathon which will explain what the research carried out and how they have advanced knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of the diseases studied. In addition, those involved in the visits can see live how the process of biomedical research from the laboratory to application in patients and may know many facts and trivia related to the research carried out in Catalonia . The September IRBLleida currently has active projects funded by the TV3 Marathon in its editions of heart disease (2014), neurodegenerative diseases (2013) and cancer (2012). The research program Visit Marathon, which started on March 1 and opens a set of actions that will be special in 2016 to celebrate 25 years of TV3 Marathon, aims to bring everyone who wants the developments promoted by the solidarity of a project that, since 1992, has raised 150 million euros and 723 driven research projects on a wide range of serious and chronic diseases. The other centers participating in the initiative are research institutes of the Hospital Vall d'Hebron (VHIR), the Hospital de Sant Pau (IRHSP), Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (IDIBAPS) , Hospital de Bellvitge (IDIBELL), the Hospital del Mar (IMIM) of Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute (IISPV) to Reus Martí Park Hospital and Julia (IdIBGi) Salt and Health Corporation Hospital Parc Tauli (CSPT) in Sabadell.
