More than 630 children will take part in scientific workshops at IRBLleida during 2023

Within the framework of the scientific education programme IRBLleida - "la Caixa" Foundation

More than 630 children aged 12 to 16 from 12 schools in the Lleida area took part in a scientific workshop at IRBLleida in 2023. For the second time, last January, the IRBLleida launched the IRBLleida-"la Caixa" Foundation science education programme to bring biomedical research closer to young people. In the workshops, the students have made a first approach to what is research for the benefit of health, they have met research staff from Lleida and they have discovered the differences between a virus and a bacterium and the resistance to antibiotics.

A total of 12 open workshops were held in all the schools in the district, with the participation of the following schools: IE Torre Queralt de Lleida, Col-legi Episcopal de Lleida, Institut la Serra de Mollerussa, Institut de Seròs, Institut Torrevicens de Lleida, Institut Guindàvols de Lleida, Escola Sant Jaume-les Heures de Lleida, Institut d'Alpicat, Escola Vedruna de Balaguer, Institut Josep Vallverdú de les Borges Blanques, Institut Joan Solà de Torrefarrera and Institut la Mitjana de Lleida.

The IRBLleida-"la Caixa" Foundation science education programme was created with the aim of encouraging scientific vocations and raising awareness of biomedical research in Lleida.
