This grant programme has been designed to provide young people with the opportunity to come into contact with the world of biomedical research, with the aim of awakening and encouraging research vocations for the future

The Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida) has once again announced the IRBLleida Grants for high school students, with the collaboration of the Institute of Education Sciences of the University of Lleida (UdL). This is an aid programme aimed at first-year baccalaureate students in Science and Technology. The programme will provide young people with the opportunity to come into contact with the world of biomedical research in order to awaken and encourage research vocations for the future. The call for applications is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the "la Caixa" Foundation, through CaixaBank, which has a network of branches that can detect social needs and channel the grants.

The six grant recipients will receive a grant consisting of 200 euros and a one-month stay at IRBLleida to familiarise themselves with the scientific environment and the techniques commonly used in basic biomedical research. It is also foreseen to carry out directed experiments, to get in touch with scientific methodology and the operation of high-tech equipment used in the different technical units of the IRBLleida.
The training period (lasting one month) will take place at the IRBLleida facilities between 1 July and 30 August 2022, on dates to be agreed between the student and the research group. The research groups in which the programme will be carried out are:
