4 IRBLleida researchers, among the most cited in the world

Four researchers at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine of Lleida (IRBLleida) are included in the database of scientists with the most citations worldwide, compiled by experts from Stanford University (United States), the scientometrics company SciTech Strategies Inc. and the scientific publishing house Elsevier. They are the head of the Metabolic Physiopathology research group, Reinald Pamplona; the head of the GREBIC group, José Manuel Porcel; the head of the Oncological Pathology group, Xavier Matias-Guiu, and the head of the Vascular and Renal Translational Research Group, José Manuel Valdivielso.

A total of 26 researchers from the University of Lleida (UdL) are included in the database of the most cited scientists in the world, compiled by experts from Stanford University (United States), the scientometrics company SciTech Strategies Inc. and the scientific publishing house Elsevier. In the latest update, carried out last August with data up to 2020, the UdL has gone from having 20 to 26 representatives among the 190,000 most outstanding people in 22 scientific fields during the last year. Of these, 13 are linked to Agrotecnio-UdL; 9, to Inspires; 3, at the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida (IRBLleida); and 1, at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Tourism (FDET). Taking into account their entire careers, the University of Lleida has 19 representatives among the top 2% at international level.
